Where can I learn to build a website for my business idea?

(1) Suggested sites / courses / books /resources to get started with my website?

(2) Where do I look for a website designer?

If you are thinking about building a substantially web-based business, it makes sense to first find a technical co-founder. See a discussion of that here.

However, if you have a non-technical business idea that just needs a website, you can probably find a team on eLance, oDesk, or rent-a-coder that can build a one-off website for you relatively inexpensively. You can also create a simple website using some "off-the-shelf" templates.

You can find a designer using some of these resources.

Here are some really good tutorials on building the front end of a website.

Covers HTML, CSS, and Design. Does not include information about building the backend of a website where a lot of the complexity is though.
