Is there is a rule of thumb for how much equity early employees at a startup should get? What percent of the company do you offer the first employees or more senior level hires? Thank you.

Venture Hacks has some good figures how much equity to give employees at Series A funded startup. Figures below are expressed as "percent of the company" that each employee gets (allocated via options): CEO: 5-10% COO: 2-5% VP: 1-2% Independent Board Member: 1% Director: 0.4-1.25% Lead Engineer: 0.5-1% Experienced Engineer: 0.33-0.66% Junior Engineer: 0.2-0.33% Manager: 0.2-0.33% |
