Depends on where you are in the U.S., but in Silicon Valley, an inexpensive billing rate is anything less than $250/hr for a live attorney (not an internet based service).

However, rate is only one part of total cost. If the $250/hr attorney takes 4 hours to do something that a $400/hr attorney takes 2 hours on, you would pay less with the more expensive, but more efficient attorney.

I would recommend erring on the side of expertise over rate.
